Place: Częstochowa

THE BESKIDY HIGHLANDERS’ WEEK OF CULTURE
Place: Wisła, Szczyrk, Żywiec, Maków Podhalański, Oświęcim
One of the largest and oldest folklore events in Poland. Every year, about 80 Polish and foreign groups participate in it. Within the event, about 50 concerts are given and two prestigious competition festivals. Also, the folk art fairs are organised as well as the popular and scientific sessions, pageants, presentations of bands, singing groups and soloists.

THE “RAWA BLUES” INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL
Place: Katowice – Spodek
The largest in Poland, blues festival during which the latest achievements of the blues music performers are presented, including such stars as: Luther Allison, Junior Wells, Koko Taylor, Carey Bell, John Cephas and Phil Wiggins, C.J. Chenier, Rory Block, Little Charlie & The Nightcats and many others. The opportunity to meet the top blues entertainers.

THE NATIONWIDE FESTIVAL OF DIRECTING ART “INTERPRETATIONS”
Place: Katowice – The Silesian Theatre
The competition presentation of directors’ interpretations of five theatre shows and five shows of the Television Theatre from the last season. Young directors (with the practice up to 15 years) compete for the main prize – the “Conrad’s Laurels” Statue.

THE PRESENTATIONS OF CAROLLING AND CEREMONIONAL ENSEMBLES “ŻYWIEC FESTIVITIES”
Place: Milówka, Żywiec
The event presenting the New Year’s ceremonies in the Żywiec area. The part of the “Festivities” is the “Carolling” event, during which the wool weaving is presented as well as tearing feather, the regional dish tasting, a sleigh ride.

One of the most renowned festivals in Europe. The festival’s host is the “Katowice” Students’ Song and Dance Ensemble.

Place: Żywiec and the Żywiec Poviat
Traditions, customs, carolling rituals, nativity plays associated with Christmas. The event cycle: competitions (writing, art), folklore workshops, presentation of folklore ensembles, tasting the selected dishes of the regional cuisine.
