The Active Tourism
Let us invite you to the Beskid ¦l±ski and Żywiecki
– the
mountain ranges situated in the southern part of the voivodeship. The
Beskidy Mountains are a dream place for skiing. Over one hundred ski
slopes await the aficionados of the “white
adventure”. Most of the slopes are artificially snowed and
lighted. In the winter season, over 150 ski lifts function here as well
as several mountain railways – the gondola-type to
Szyndzielnia in Bielsko-Biała, chair-type to Skrzyczne in Szczyrk and
to Czantoria in Ustroń as well as cable-rail-type to the Żar Mountain.
In Szczyrk, the most popular winter sports centre, there are 60 km of
ski tracks, the majority of which hold the FIS certification. The
excellent conditions for skiing can be also found in
Korbielów, Brenna, Ustroń, Istebna as well as in Wisła,
where Adam Małysz lives, the world champion and the winner of the World
Cup in ski jumps. On the slopes of the charming Beskidy
Mountains one may come across numerous enthusiasts of new types of
skiing: funcarving and ski-alpinism.
The Beskidy Mountains are an ideal place for walking
tourism. The
beautiful landscapes, immaculate nature, the network of marked tourist
routes as well as numerous refuges, these are the assents of our
mountains. There are plenty of hotels, guest houses and private
accommodation of high standard and for reasonable price. In the
northern part of the Voivodeship, there is the Krakow-Częstochowa
Upland, where the limestone island mountains, rock gates and spires
create ideal conditions for scrambling and the numerous caves are a
genuine paradise for cave explorers. Above the heads of the wandering
tourists, the colourful wings of para / hang-gliders appear.

In the Jura, as the Krakow-Częstochowa Upland is usually called, there
are also some excellent areas for cycling. The numerous lanes are
prepared for biking enthusiasts and allow for active relish in this
part of the region.
The Beskidy and Jura are also well-known places for the aficionados of
extreme sports, such as: paintball, quad riding or bungee jumps.
The Żywiec and Międzybrodzie Lake as well as the Czaniec and Poraj
water basins are visited by many water sports enthusiasts.
