THE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
The “Katowice” International Airport in Pyrzowice
is the most dynamically developing airport in Europe. A few years ago,
it was only just 200,000 passengers that used it per annum. Currently,
the airport serves over one million passengers a year. From the
“Katowice”, one may directly reach: London, Rome,
Pars, Dublin, Stockholm, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Cologne,
Düsseldorf, Milan, Liverpool or Warsaw. Our airport has become
a centre for the low-cost lines as well as charter flights for the
southern Poland. For the passengers’ convenience, a new
passenger terminal has been open for use. For 2007, the erection
completion of another modern terminal has been planned. Due to the
engagement of such carriers as: Wizzair, Lufthansa, Centralwings or
Lot, Silesia may be reached by air easily, cheap and comfortably from
the whole Europe.
ROADS
The ¦l±skie Voivodeship has the densest express road network in Poland.
The completion of works associated with building the A-4 motorway in
our region enabled fast and collision-free travelling both towards
west, in the direction of Opole, Wrocław and eastwards, towards Krakow.
The Highway Through Route (DT¦), currently under construction,
combining the cities of the Silesian Agglomeration will soon allow for
shortening the journey time between the largest centres of the
region’s central part. Owing to the thorough modernisation of
the road from Cieszyn to Bielsko-Biała and further to Żywiec, it is
easier to access the most attractive tourist places in the Beskidy
Mountains.
